a mousegirl for your monday afternoon

I slept all day after work yesterday, so here my rough pencil sketch for day 5 of @bethdehart​‘s Mousegirl Monday, the prompt being “Wild”. So after some doodling I decided to sketch an outdoor, “in the wild” scene, kinda going for the general vibes of a 2d cartoon outdoor animal movie.

Anyway also decided just now to share some of my random doodles that could be considered related to these prompts.

Other than how small I drew it, I don’t think this one is half bad for amateur art.

Anyway thanks for looking. Now that I’ve doodle for a bit hopefully mind mind is attuned well enough to focus on writing.

Her name's Marigold! A punk-rock rodent that rocks the power of rainbow flames! ....Though there does seem to be some odd effect to having that power...

(The multicoloured flame was inspired by various ideas from @beingawizardisfunandeasy! Namely this, this, and this, just expanding on 'em and making it rainbow—)

There's certainly an inverse correlation between the silliness of a blog's name and how accurately it describes the content - kobold or mousegirl blogs, for example, are far more likely to heavily feature their respective subject matter than catgirl blogs.

This is admittedly a radical notion, but I suspect this is a calculus whose answer may somewhat differ when consideration is extended to blogs which are not also girls.

After a longer amount of time than I meant to spend sketching, here’s my rough pencil sketch for @bethdehart​‘s mousegirl may Day 15, Prompt - Hide.

I was actually just trying to sketch outfits and decided to try a trench coat. I think I could do a better job of making the toony mouse head and the body match more stylistically.

Also under the cut here’s a couple earlier attempts at how to draw the legs and feet.

Yes, I have! I caught that, actually. That's what I was making a nudge at, and for the record, good for you. (I'm assuming you're the OP of the clowngirl post at this point, but you're on anon so I can only guess.)

Against my better judgement, I'll try to explain what the idea of "someone get the mousegirl quote" was. I read the post. I noticed the wording, neurons fired and made a connection. I figured OP was probably into clowngirls. I thought I'd hint at my conclusion by referencing the mousegirl post, which made a similar one. I did not know about the backlash that post/reply/user recieved. I did not even think it'd come off as hostile, considering how well-liked clowngirls and various other -girls are in these circles. It was off-colour and landed wrong. Sorry about that. I didn't want to make an enemy, I thought you'd find it funny. I recognize that "it was just a joke" is not a good defense, so I want to emphasize that's not what my defense is - I thought OP would like that I caught onto the hints they were dropping.

But now, let's turn the table. I've had multiple suicide baits in my inbox today. I do not mention this because I cannot take it, because I can, but because suicide baiting is a class C felony in the US, which I suspect some of you may be from. If you do not have a quarter million dollars lying around or a spare 25 years to spend in prison, it's probably best not chance it and toy with strangers' lives. This is not a threat, this is advice to all tumblr users: suicide baiting is beneath you, will curry you no favour from most people who see you do it, and can have serious consequences for you and the person you send it to. (But I'm not under the illusion that you wish me well.)

So, yeah, anyway, sorry I riled you up so much, but maybe just block me next time? Tumblr might not be good for you if this is how you handle interpersonal conflict.
